Hello everyone! I want to share with you why I love doing Pharmaceutical Science Research.

ree

Despite the extensive research and the recent innovations in cancer treatments, there is still a continuous increase in the number of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Statistically, #cancer cases are expected to rise to more than 23 million by the year 2030 if not prevented (National Cancer Institute, 2018). However, between 30-50% of these cases are related to an unhealthy lifestyle, nutritional imbalance, obesity, and physical inactivity; thus, they are preventable (World Health Organization, 2018; American Cancer Society, 2005). ⁣

I do pharmaceutical science research because I want to solve health problems such as cancer by discovering new chemopreventive #medicine derived from natural sources to alleviate the quality of life of everyone, most notably of the #Filipino people. My previous posts have shown how dedicated and passionate I am with what I do. I have shared with you my story and didn't really expect the impact it made. To raise awareness about the effects of medicinal plants in our country is one of the fundamental reasons why I do research. ⁣

Thank you so much to Dr. Reina Reyes and Kami Navarro, for making all of this possible! The Pinoy Scientists page has given my fellow #PinoyScientists and me the voice and the platform we needed to educate our countrymen about #STEM, research, and being a scientist. Kudos!!! ⁣ Also, I would like to plug my Facebook Page, John Paul Tosoc, and my social media @mejpaul. I will continue sharing my story and my research journey on those platforms. I hope you will support me on this! Thank you! “PINOY SCIENTISTS: YES, WE EXIST!” ⁣ Credits to Magandang Umaga South Central Mindanao (ABS-CBN) and to their director Sir Jay Dayupay!
